From a Brain Aneurysm to Shark Tank, How to trust in God’s Plan.

We are all survivors! From childhood to adulthood, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that we are in a constant pursuit of trying to really understand who we are. Growth is an amazing yet humbling experience. If we actually sit back and reflect on all of the tremendous challenges and setbacks we have overcome, we would give ourselves a lot more credit than what we probably do. Just when you are starting to embrace who you are, life happens. The phrase “first comes love then comes marriage” says it the best, and we all know what happens after love and marriage: Motherhood.

At the age of 43, I defied the odds and survived a brain aneurysm. I was immediately airlifted to the hospital and had to undergo brain surgery. The fatality rate of a brain bleed is 80% and most people don’t even make it to the hospital. Therefore, I am beyond blessed to be here. It is evident that God has plans for me, and to everyone reading this, he has plans for you too.

After my aneurysm, I more intently began to choose faith over fear. For the first time in my career, my sales efforts exploded! I was ranked #1 in the region and top 10 in the nation. I amassed multiple awards including the very coveted President’s Club Award several times. During that same time, I followed and pursued my dream of entrepreneurship by creating a product that everyone in the world who has feet and wears socks can use, SockTABs. Despite the 0.02% chance of being selected, I told everyone that I was going to be on Shark Tank and by God’s grace, I achieved this goal.

Just when I thought that I had successfully overcome my greatest challenges, the first man that I ever loved and who truly unconditionally loved me, my sweet Papa, unexpectedly passed away. Two years later, my marriage of 25 years was over! I packed up and moved across the country and started over. As part of my efforts to start over, I felt it was necessary to share how God has blessed my life.

Come with me on this enlightening journey of self-discovery and survival. See how a little black girl from the inner-city of Chicago was able to overcome tremendous challenges. From surviving a brain aneurysm and an eleven-hour brain surgery, to surviving the ‘sharks’ on ABC’s hit TV show Shark Tank, this book is designed for everyone that has doubted themselves in business, relationships, parenthood or life. I’ve learned the importance of immediately embracing the fearless and faithful life that God has for me. It is my goal for you to embrace your greatness and, to NO LONGER live beneath your privilege and I am going to show you how!
